Yutian Silicone is a custom medical silicone hose manufacturer based in Dongguan, China, manufacturing since 2012. We extrude platinum-cured silicone tubing and reinforced (braided) silicone hose to customer specification, with cleanroom production, ISO 10993 biocompatibility test reports and ISO 13485 documentation available according to customer requirements. This article explains exactly how an OEM project runs with us — what we need from you, what you get back, and how long each step takes.

Why medical silicone hose projects stall

Most OEM sourcing delays do not come from the extrusion itself. They come from four things:

• Undefined specification. "Medical grade silicone tubing, about 6 mm" is not a specification. Wall thickness, tolerance and hardness all change the outcome.
• Compliance discovered late. Cleanroom, ISO 10993 or ISO 13485 requirements are often raised after sampling — which restarts the project.
• Sampling rounds that do not converge. Without a fixed drawing and acceptance criteria, every sample is a new discussion.
• Lead-time uncertainty. Planning a production line around an unknown delivery date is the most common reason buyers switch suppliers mid-project.

Our process is built to close those four gaps early. Below is how it works.

What we manufacture, and what we do not

Before the process, one boundary matters for procurement and quality teams:

Silicone parts are manufactured in-house. This includes extrusion, calendering, foaming, bonding and assembly of silicone components.

Non-silicone components are not manufactured by us. Fittings, clamps, metal parts, flanges and housings are integrated through our partner network and supplied together with the silicone part on request. If your drawing includes a barbed, flanged, threaded or sanitary-clamp connector, we can deliver the assembly — but the metal component is sourced, not made in our factory.

We state this plainly because it affects your supplier qualification paperwork, not just the quotation.

02  Material and construction selection

Our medical silicone tubing is produced by platinum-cured (addition-cure) vulcanisation. Compared with peroxide curing, platinum curing avoids peroxide by-products, which is why it is the usual choice for medical and food-contact tubing.

For tubing that must resist vacuum, pressure pulses or repeated bending, we add a reinforcement layer. Our standard reinforced construction is a three-layer build: a platinum-cured silicone inner layer, a high-temperature polyester braid, and a silicone outer jacket.

Mesh-braided and steel-wire-braided constructions are available as custom options for applications with higher pressure requirements. Because these are made to order, they are quoted against your specification rather than from a fixed catalogue.

03  Sampling

Sampling is where an OEM project is won or lost, so we fix the acceptance criteria before the first sample is made.

• We recommend testing the sample against your own functional criteria — flow, fit, flexing, connection — before moving to production.

04  Documentation and compliance

This is where requirements differ most between customers, so we treat them as options you select, not as fixed claims:

Two clarifications we always give buyers:

1. ISO 10993 is a standard family covering many endpoints. What we reference is three specific reports: cytotoxicity, skin sensitization and skin irritation. We do not claim endpoints outside these three.
2. Not intended for human implant. Our reinforced medical hose is not designed or supplied for implantation.

Tell us at the quotation stage which documents your quality team needs, and they are built into the project plan rather than added later.

05  Production capacity and lead time

Capacity matters most when your programme scales. A supplier who can run a pilot batch but not a ramp-up will cost you a second qualification later.

Common specification mistakes we see

• Treating burst pressure as working pressure. Burst pressure is a failure threshold, not an operating limit. Always specify working and peak pressure separately.
• Omitting the vacuum condition. A line that sees negative pressure needs a construction that resists collapse — this is exactly where a reinforced hose is chosen over plain tubing.
• Specifying hardness without the durometer scale. Shore A and Shore D are not interchangeable.
• Raising compliance requirements after sampling. Add cleanroom, ISO 10993 and ISO 13485 to the first RFQ.
• Leaving packaging undefined. Packaging affects handling, contamination control and your incoming inspection time.
