What is the difference between platinum‑cured and peroxide‑cured foam silicone tube?
Platinum‑cured foam silicone tube uses a catalyst‑based addition reaction, leaving no by‑products or odor. It offers lower compression set (≤10%) and meets FDA, RoHS, REACH standards. Peroxide‑cured foam tube may have a slight smell, higher compression set, and is more suitable for general industrial sealing where extreme purity is not required.
Does foam silicone tube have an odor? Will it release oil or become sticky over time?
Our platinum‑cured silicone sponge tube is completely odorless. It contains no plasticizers or low‑molecular weight siloxanes that could migrate to the surface, so no sticky residue or oil bleeding occurs – even after long‑term compression or elevated temperatures.
Why do different batches of silicone foam tube sometimes show slight color variations?
Closed‑cell foam silicone tube is manufactured by a chemical foaming process. Small variations in temperature, pressure, or foaming agent dispersion can cause minimal batch‑to‑batch color differences (usually within ΔE<3). This does not affect physical performance. For colour‑critical visible applications, we provide pre‑production colour samples for approval.
What is the compression set of your silicone sponge tube?
Our low compression set silicone foam tube achieves ≤15% (ASTM D3574, 50% compression, 70℃×22h). Platinum‑cured grades can reach ≤10%. This guarantees excellent recovery even after months of constant clamping, maintaining reliable sealing against dust, moisture, and air.
Is your foam silicone tube closed‑cell or open‑cell? Which is better for waterproof sealing?
We supply closed‑cell silicone sponge tube as standard. The independent tiny air pockets make it waterproof (water absorption <5% ASTM D570), ideal for outdoor cabinets, LED luminaires, and automotive door seals. Open‑cell foam is available upon request for sound absorption or breathable applications.
What is the temperature resistance range of your silicone foam tube?
Our high‑temperature silicone foam tube works continuously from -50°C to +200°C. Special formulas can extend to -60°C or +250°C. It remains flexible in freezing conditions and does not soften or deform under engine‑bay or industrial oven heat.
Can you produce custom profiles (D‑shape, P‑shape, square, etc.)? What about tooling cost and lead time?
Yes, we extrude any custom silicone foam profile based on your drawing or sample. Tooling fee is $50–250 (fully deductible from bulk order). Sampling takes 10‑15 days. Complex shapes with undercuts or multiple cavities are no problem for our in‑house tooling team.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for foam silicone tube?
For standard round foam silicone tube (stock sizes), there is no MOQ – you can order even 10 meters. For custom profiles, MOQ is typically $500 order value (around 200‑500 meters depending on size). We welcome trial orders for new projects.
What certifications do you provide for silicone foam tube?
We supply RoHS, REACH, and FDA certificates (food‑contact grade). For flame retardancy, we offer UL94 V‑0 or HB test reports – this is a material property test, not a full product UL certification. All batches come with traceable test reports including density, hardness, and compression set.
