Product Guide · Custom Construction
Mesh braided silicone hose uses a woven reinforcement layer instead of a single-direction braid, and we build it as a custom option rather than a catalogue item. It shares the same materials, the same temperature range and the same dimensional envelope as our standard polyester braided hose; what changes is the reinforcement. It is quoted per project, because the right construction depends on your pressure, vacuum, temperature and bend radius rather than on a fixed table.
This page explains what mesh reinforcement is, when it is worth specifying over the standard braid, what we need from you to quote it, and — importantly — what we will not do, which is publish pressure figures we have not measured.
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Availability | Custom option, made to order — not an off-the-shelf model |
| Positioned for | Higher pressure requirements than the standard polyester braid |
| Shared with standard range | Materials, temperature range, bore sizes, wall options, colour |
| Quoted on | Working pressure, peak pressure, vacuum, temperature, bend radius, quantity |
| Pressure ratings | Confirmed per project after evaluation — not a published catalogue value |
A braided hose and a mesh braided hose can look almost identical from the outside. The difference is in the reinforcement itself:
| Term | Reinforcement | What it is used for |
|---|---|---|
| Braided | Yarn braided in crossing directions around the bore | The standard reinforcement. Our eleven standard models. |
| Mesh braided | A woven mesh layer, giving a denser and more uniform cover over the same wall | Custom builds where the standard braid is not enough |
| Steel wire braided | Metal wire braid | Custom builds for the highest pressure duty; also a separate custom option |
All three keep the same three-layer logic: silicone bore, reinforcement, silicone jacket. The reinforcement is always fully encapsulated, so it never touches the medium.
One clarification worth stating plainly: we do not describe the mesh layer as a product size or a specification grade. There is no "mesh count" or standard mesh model we publish, because the mesh is chosen to suit the project. Anyone quoting you a mesh specification number as a fixed standard is describing their own build, not a universal one.
Start from this position: the standard polyester braided hose covers most applications. It handles full vacuum, pressure cycling and tight bends, and it is the product we hold in eleven sizes with published burst and bend radius data. Move to mesh when one of the following is true:
When not to bother: if your line is atmospheric pressure, static, with generous bends, mesh reinforcement adds cost without adding anything you need. The same applies if you are already inside the standard braid's rating with margin to spare — an engineer's instinct to over-specify is understandable, but it is money spent on reinforcement instead of on the bore quality that actually touches your product.
A custom reinforcement does not mean a custom material. The mesh build uses the same silicone and the same quality controls as our standard hose, which means these values are unchanged:
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Silicone | Medical and food-grade, platinum-cured |
| Colour | Transparent (high transparency) |
| Hardness | Inner tube 70 Shore A · outer 60 Shore A |
| Density | 1.2 ± 0.1 g/cm³ |
| Tensile strength | ≥ 8.6 MPa |
| Tear strength | ≥ 32 kN/m |
| Elongation at break | ≥ 360 % |
| Continuous service temperature | −40 to +200 °C (−40 to 392 °F) |
| Internal diameter | 3 to 31.75 mm as standard; other sizes quoted per project |
| Compliance | ROHS, FDA, LFGB, NSF |
| Restriction | Not for human implant |
What does change: burst pressure, bend radius and pressure-cycling behaviour are all functions of the reinforcement geometry, so none of the figures from our standard eleven-model table apply to a mesh build. Those are measured or confirmed for your specific construction.
We are stating that directly rather than publishing a safe-looking number. If you need a pressure figure you can put in a qualification file, that figure should come from the construction you are actually buying.
Mesh braid is not a catalogue look-up, so the quote depends on inputs. The more of these you can give in the first message, the fewer rounds it takes:
| Input | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Bore and wall | Sets the geometry the reinforcement has to work against |
| Working pressure and peak pressure | Steady load and spike load are different requirements; give both, not the average |
| Vacuum level, if any | A line that goes negative needs collapse resistance on top of burst strength |
| Temperature range | Continuous and peak, plus the medium |
| Bend radius in the machine | The routing constraint often decides the construction more than the pressure does |
| Duty cycle | Continuous, intermittent or pulsing |
| Quantity and target lead time | A custom construction is scheduled, not picked from stock |
| Cleanroom and ISO 10993 / ISO 13485 | These are built into the run, so they must be known before sampling |
A drawing or a 3D model of the assembly helps more than a paragraph of description. If you have a competitor sample you want matched, say so — that is a normal starting point, and it saves a round.
| Stage | Lead time |
|---|---|
| In-stock samples (standard construction) | Ship in 3 days |
| Standard parts | Typically 5–7 days |
| Custom mesh builds | 10–20 working days, depending on specification and quantity |
The sequence we recommend, and which most of our custom projects follow:
Skipping step 1 is the most common way custom projects waste time. If the standard hose would have passed, you have paid for a custom construction and a custom lead time to solve a problem you did not have.
We have produced silicone rubber components since 2012 at a 6,800 m² facility in Dongguan, Guangdong: 14 extrusion lines, 4 calendering lines and 7 compression moulding lines, monthly capacity up to 8,000,000 meters, with over 90 people in production and more than 50 in management, engineering and sales. A Class 100,000 cleanroom is available, and ISO 10993 biocompatibility reports and ISO 13485 can be provided according to customer requirements.
What is mesh braided silicone hose?
A reinforced silicone hose in which the middle layer is a woven mesh rather than a single-direction braid, giving a denser and more uniform cover over the same wall. It follows the same three-layer logic as our standard hose: platinum-cured silicone bore, reinforcement, silicone jacket.
Is mesh braided hose a standard product?
No. Our eleven standard models are polyester braided. Mesh braid is a custom option we build to order, quoted per project against your pressure, vacuum, temperature and bend radius.
What pressure can a mesh braided hose take?
We confirm the rating per construction rather than publishing a general figure, because burst pressure depends on bore, wall, reinforcement geometry and temperature. Tell us your working and peak pressure and we will confirm what the build is rated for in writing.
Does mesh reinforcement change the temperature range?
No. The service temperature is set by the silicone, not the reinforcement: −40 to +200 °C (−40 to 392 °F) continuous, the same as our standard construction.
Are the sizes the same as the standard range?
The standard size envelope is 3 to 31.75 mm inner diameter, and a mesh build can be made within it. Dimensions outside that range are quoted per project.
Should I skip the standard hose and go straight to mesh?
Usually not. We recommend qualifying the standard braided hose in your machine first. If it passes, you avoid a custom construction and a custom lead time; if it fails, the failure mode tells us exactly what the mesh build has to solve.
Can mesh and steel wire braid be combined?
For the most demanding pressure duty we build steel wire braided constructions as a separate custom option. If your requirement sits beyond a single mesh layer, tell us the duty and we will propose a construction — but we will only quote a combination we can actually produce and verify.
What lead time should I plan for?
Custom and project-specific parts are typically 10–20 working days depending on specification and quantity. Plan for sampling before production, since you will want to test the construction against the criteria that drove the change.
Can cleanroom production and biocompatibility reports be included?
Yes. Cleanroom production (Class 100,000), ISO 10993 biocompatibility reports — three reports covering cytotoxicity, skin sensitization and skin irritation — and ISO 13485 can be provided according to customer requirements. They are built into the production run, so specify them before sampling rather than after.
Can you supply the assembly with fittings?
We manufacture the silicone hose. Fittings, clamps and other non-silicone components can be integrated through our partner network and supplied as an assembly; they are not manufactured in our factory.
If you have already tested the standard braid and it did not hold, send us the failure mode along with your bore, working and peak pressure, vacuum level, temperature, bend radius and quantity. If you have not tested it yet, ask for in-stock samples first — in-stock samples ship in 3 days, and that is the cheapest way to find out whether you need a custom construction at all.
Need a mesh build quoted?
Send the duty and the dimensions. We will confirm the construction, the rating for it, and the lead time in one reply.
