Our braided silicone hose is rated −40 °C to +200 °C (−40 °F to 392 °F) for continuous service. Peak ratings of 250–300 °C belong to our separate high-temperature silicone hose line — they are not the continuous rating of the braided hose.

A continuous rating is the temperature a hose is designed to sit at for the life of the assembly. A peak rating is a short excursion the material can survive without the part being written off. Read a braided silicone hose temperature rating as a continuous service limit, not as a target to design up to.
Our braided hose carries one continuous figure: −40 °C to +200 °C, across every bore from ID 3 mm to ID 31.75 mm. We publish no peak figure for it, because it is not the product for excursion duty.
Peaks are still a real requirement. Buyers searching for a high temperature braided silicone hose usually need one of two different things: a hose that holds 200 °C continuously, or a line that takes short excursions above it. Those are two products, not two readings of one product. 250–300 °C is the peak rating of our separate high-temperature silicone hose line — a short-term peak, never continuous, and never a rating of the braided hose.
All three constructions carry the same −40 °C to +200 °C: the standard polyester braid at ID 3–31.75 mm, and the mesh braid and steel wire braid at ID 19–102 mm. Size range and burst pressure differ and are published per construction; the temperature range is common to all three.
Reinforcement yarn is a material choice, not a construction. Polyester yarn is standard; cotton and nylon yarn are available on request, both used in food and medical contact work at the same −40 °C to +200 °C. Burst data is published for the polyester yarn models; for cotton and nylon we measure per specification. It is also described as a heat resistant reinforced silicone hose, or more briefly a heat resistant silicone hose.
The rating is printed in both scales because the market reads both. A purchase order may call for a 200°C silicone hose while its drawing calls the same part 392°F silicone tubing. The silicone hose temperature range we publish is one band expressed twice: −40 °C to +200 °C, which is −40 °F to 392 °F.
| Reference point | °C | °F |
|---|---|---|
| Cold end of the range | −40 °C | −40 °F |
| Freezing point of water | 0 °C | 32 °F |
| Boiling point of water at sea level | 100 °C | 212 °F |
| Hot end of the continuous range | +200 °C | 392 °F |
Two points: −40 is the only temperature where the scales meet, and 200 °C is 392 °F. Convert before comparing with the data sheet — a rating quoted as 250 °F is 121 °C, inside the range.
The cold end matters for cold rooms, freezer lines, outdoor routing and winter transport. Our braided hose is rated to −40 °C (−40 °F) and stays flexible there, where commodity rubber can stiffen.
Flexibility still falls as temperature drops. A low temperature silicone hose at −40 °C is stiffer than at 20 °C, so route cold lines with more radius than the minimum and make the first pull on a cold hose slow. Media thicken and fittings contract at a different rate, so check pump pressure and clamp torque. Cold does not change the data sheet; it changes the installation margin you need.
Table 2 maps common duties to the product. Read the temperature your line sees at the wall, not the ambient room figure.
| Duty | Recommended hose | Rating to quote |
|---|---|---|
| Ambient, hot-air or hot-water lines up to 200 °C | Standard polyester braid, ID 3–31.75 mm | −40 to +200 °C (−40 to 392 °F) continuous |
| Cold rooms, freezer and outdoor winter lines down to −40 °C | Same braided hose, with extra bend radius | −40 °C end of the continuous range; remains flexible |
| Sustained duty above 200 °C, or repeated excursions into the 250–300 °C peak band | Separate high-temperature silicone hose line | Peak 250–300 °C, not continuous |
| Food or medical contact where cotton or nylon yarn is specified | Same construction, cotton or nylon yarn | Same −40 to +200 °C; burst measured per specification |
| Oxygen concentrator circuit at ambient temperature | Standard braided hose; see the burst and vacuum guide | −40 to +200 °C continuous |
Two duties sit outside the braided hose: sustained service above 200 °C, and a process that returns to the 250–300 °C peak band often enough that the excursion stops being an excursion. Both belong to the separate high-temperature silicone hose line, where 250–300 °C is published as a peak; continuous service in that band is offered by neither line. Inside the band, the remaining work is medium, pressure, vacuum, bend radius, end connections and certifications.
Can the braided hose run at 200 °C continuously?
Yes. 200 °C (392 °F) is the top of the continuous range, so a line that stays at or below it is inside the published rating. The same figure applies to the polyester braid and to the cotton and nylon yarn versions. Above 200 °C you are outside this product.
Does the braided hose have a 250–300 °C peak rating?
No. 250–300 °C is the peak rating of our separate high-temperature silicone hose line, not a rating of the braided hose, neither continuous nor peak. If your process reaches 250 °C or more, or returns to that peak band repeatedly, specify the high-temperature line.
Does the hose harden at −40 °C?
It remains flexible at the rated −40 °C. Flexibility does fall as temperature drops, so the hose is stiffer at −40 °C than at room temperature, and commodity rubber can stiffen earlier. Check the installed radius in your assembly.
How do I convert the rating to Fahrenheit?
Use °F = °C × 9/5 + 32: −40 °C is −40 °F, 0 °C is 32 °F, 100 °C is 212 °F and 200 °C is 392 °F, so the rating is −40 to 392 °F. US drawings often give only Fahrenheit, so our data sheet prints both columns.
How do I request the temperature datasheet?
Send the bore, medium, continuous temperature and any peak or cleaning-cycle temperature, the installed bend radius and the certifications needed. We reply with the silicone hose datasheet, the rating in °C and °F, and the lead time: standard items 5–7 days, in-stock samples ship in 3 days, custom builds typically 10–20 working days.
Tell us the bore and wall, the continuous temperature your line holds, any peak or cleaning-cycle temperature, the medium, the bend radius and the certifications you need. If the duty sits above 200 °C, say so in the first message — that is a different hose line, not a problem.
Need the temperature figures for your line?
Send the bore, medium, continuous and peak temperature; we reply with the matching model, the rating in °C and °F, and the lead time.
